Biography of Dr. Akiva Korn


Dr. Akiva Korn, Director of Surgical Neurophysiology at the Medical Center of Tel Aviv University, Israel. The service is part of the Department of Neurosurgery under the direction of Professor Zvi Ram and the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery under the direction of Professor Shlomi Konstantini.


Leading a team of eight additional neurophysiologists, the service provides real-time assessment of the state of the nervous system using electrophysiological methodologies, including evoked potentials, electrocorticography and electromyography during complex neurosurgery, including the spine, spinal cord, peripheral nerve and complex brain lesions and brain lesions brain, including epilepsy.
Akiva received a bachelor's and master's degree in neurology from Bar Ilan University and Ben Gurion University, respectively, and completed a two-year internship in surgical neurophysiology in the United States under the auspices of Professor Joseph Danto in New York.


Akiva regularly participates in national and international meetings, congresses and training courses on the topic of surgical neurophysiology as a guest lecturer, and is the author and co-author of dozens of original articles and book chapters on the topic of intraoperative neurophysiological mapping and monitoring in neurosurgery. His service also receives warmly invited neurophysiologists, neurosurgeons and neurologists from around the world for instructional guidance and collaboration in research projects.


His main research interests lie in the field of innovative and new methods of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and mapping, used in brain surgery in adults and children
